Enjoying The Moment
As I sit and listen
Outside to freshen
To clean myself from stale air
To relax, I must dare
The sweet sound
Of classical in the background
The sounds are tame and soothing
So calm and eluding
The horns are precise
The strings are so clear
The tune peaceful and moving
Taking me to a far away place
Enjoying the moment
Listening to each instrument
Each one has a chore
I listen with anticipation, asking for more
The tune has changed
Voices have entered
A total new tune
Another one to croon
I look up to the sky
Slowly the clouds go by
I glance over yonder
I enjoy my time to ponder
The words are so clear
Refreshing in my ear
I go into a mellow trance
To a new world, I make my entrance
Briefly, I left my loved one
To clear my head
I sometimes like isolation
So I can think my thoughts instead
I watch people walk to and fro
It fascinates me, to wonder what they do
I watch cars go on
They come and then they are gone
The moon has come out to play
My thoughts, review the whole day
Its radiance is so grand
To shine over this land
Some wonder why I need my space
It is because I need to find my place
Our place is just so small
I need to be where I can see it all
I don't always need friends around
I need to stand and take my ground
I want to stand tall
So I can feel I have it all
I'm not saying I don't
I'm saying I still need to think
Think of all things
To absorb my thoughts
I see a solitary star
It is so distant and far
Shining through the clouds
An opening, it has found
I look beyond in a daze
Not focused, my eyes are hazed
I absorb all the words in a song
Once in a while, I'll sing along
Once in a while, I'll sway
Listening as the song plays
The words are so inspiring
Not draining or tiring
I see the playground ahead
All the children are all in bed
In some homes, a book was read
And they listened till they had a heavy head
I recall my mother read me a book
"Rapunzel, Rapunzel, let down your hair"
Her golden hair, the witch took
She was mean and she wasn't fair
I requested it every night
My mother read it without a fight
She read it, over and over
Crazy, I'm sure I drove her
Funny how I can recall
My life wasn't boring at all
Many moves, we had made
Slowly...it is forgotten and slowly fades
The air is crisp and cool
I sit here on the step like a fool
But it is nice and bright
Such a beautiful night
Oh...I hear a piano
Sheryl Crowe sings her solo
She has a wonderful voice
To listen to her is my choice
The sky has become overcast
The moon now has a mask
The clouds hid the moon's inner beauty
Darn...isn't that a pity
My street seems to be dead
I guess everyone has gone to bed
I am the crazy one
However, I believe I am having the best fun
Well, I guess I should put my mind at ease
And go in, before my back starts to freeze
I will leave for now
Remember though...I will return, this is my solemn vow
